MARCO MOLESINI
Marco Molesini was born in Cortona, Italy 23 May 1966. Marco’s family, originally from Verona, established a residential and commercial presence in Cortona in 1937.
Following Italian high school (majoring in accounting) Marco served two years in the Italian Air Force before matriculating at the University of Georgia where he studied English and Economics from 1988 through 1991.
Returning to Cortona Marco ran his family businesses, a grocery store and an enoteca (wine shop) until taking a three-year diversion from 1995 through 1997 to run hotels in France, Spain and Sardinia.
Marco became a sommelier in 1999 and now devotes his efforts primarily at the enoteca, the most significant enoteca in Tuscany offering over 1,300 labels and shipping worldwide. Additionally, Marco now presents significant Italian wines at private tastings in the United States each year.
In conjunction with the enoteca Marco established the school of Viticulture and Enology in Cortona for the University of Georgia, which has had a Cortona campus for over forty years. He is an instructor in the school.
Joan and Roger Arndt, Coca-Cola marketing executive and Delta International Captain, retired, sold everything and moved to Italy in 2002. They quickly established a friendship with Marco Molesini and eight years ago began twice a year American wine tours to promote Italian wines not readily available in the States. Joan, Roger and Marco will be with us on Sunday, 24 February at four-thirty pm for an informative presentation of Italian wines and wine making followed by a family style dinner prepared by Chef Andrew Coins.
